NARRATIVE - Fish Modelling

Began modelling the Fish. Workflow is high-poly to low-poly then rigging and such can be done.

  1. Some of this stuff like the scales or the veins we could manage with bump or normal maps. Although with the fins is the plan for something thick and rigid look or do we plan in exploring something more silky?

I like the flowing shapes on the sides of the body though.

    1. with the scales, that was the idea of making it in high poly first yes, to bake normal maps. And that's a very good question, I wasn't sure what we were going for (you can always have the texture partially transparent though!) gunna have to discuss tomorrow yep?

    2. We can have the discussion tomorrow, certainly. Though what I'm referring to is more than transparency. Maybe a better angle is needed for a better idea because the pectoral fins appear a tiny bit chunky from this angle. Same possibly with the tail. A lot of small fish have quite delicate-looking fins.

    3. Ah you're right. "Dainty" most definitely isnt coming across in general!

    4. Yeah. Needs a little more flexibility to its appearance. All it needs is a bit of trimming down and maybe some tweaking of the ends.

  2. Hi Eva

Can you upload images of the mesh for the fish?...Did you make this in ZBrush?....If so it may not be suitable for animation in Maya.

    1. Hello! Its extremely high poly / dense right now. (And in general rather rough still, im using zbrush to get the shape down) the idea was to decimate it and then retopo in maya so it's low poly and the geometry would then be suitable for animation
