October 1st

Yay it's October!! Pointy hat time. And just like in cooking shows here's something I prepared earlier because I never manage to get anything Halloween themed out in the month of October.

BB

On the 28th this month it was Brigitte Bardot's birthday. I wrote her a letter and sent a print of this painting as a little thank you gift. Today I received a reply from her and so I thought it'd be nice now to upload what I painted !

Across-Course Collab!

photographed & created by Kanna Kawakita

The past weeks I worked inbetween my current project to collaborate with Kanna Kawakita from Fashion Media and Promotion here at UCA Rochester to create a portrait and "character-fy" her designs that she both made and photographed (seen above!) - which subsequently turned into two illustrations to be used for the front and back cover of her Zine! It was really fun to interpret her designs into characters and push them stylistically, and the idea of turning into a monster but remaining cute was inspiring to work with. On the left is the more transformed version of the original girl on the right! They were printed in A5 size for the Zine. I also just wanted to say a quick thanks to the mysterious person who put my name forward to Kanna. - Thanks :^D

ありがとうございました!

Yoshizawa Kayoko

Some fanart of Yoshizawa Kayoko, one of my favourite more lighthearted singers recently. I based it from the styling of the video below (and had a lot of fun doing that for once):

Fluffy Spikes

3D Model made in Zbrush. Made from scratch already posed and so symmetry wasn't used for most of this except for the head/pelt's head and hair. They were then posed afterwards. 34Mil polys and too many sub-tools to count. Made to focus less on optimization and more-so a stylistic approach to be less smooth. Gotta make 3D as scratchy as my drawings eh...

Started as a quick drawing first but not used 24/7 as a definite reference!

unrelated character things

just a bunch of stuff I've been doing on the side of the recent project; whilst I have more I think you get the point. Characters..

Invidia + Ira

Two characters from a rather old story of mine featuring personified versions of the 7 deadly-sins + their respective virtues acting as level bosses for two rather large cities.
Floaty Rayman hands.

The Sugar Plum Fairy's Evil Twin SP2

I wonder which one is the evil one

Characters

Bottom three were gifts of other people's characters.
That very last one is a creeper.

Turning a Character from 2D to 3D

Making a new 3D model of one of my characters.. they always start off as a glorified fetus.... Anyway, using this to eventually test my new found normal-map skills.

Sketchies of the past weeks

Stuff from the past weeks.. I have more though unfortunately I can't fit them on a reasonably sized document.

Have a nice Christmas buddies. :^)

Bye Bye Birdie

When I get ill MY HANDS BECOME JIGGLY AND MY ALREADY UNSTEADY HAND GETS WORSE - So..
I colour things instead.
Unfortunately my characters will never be as cool as Ann- Margret. :^(

Maya - Various Experimentation

The body and head I had created a few days into the course thus have the worst topology I think I've ever seen, although it was a lot easier to create the house. I created these before watching the relevant tutorials to see what I knew I couldn't do! Apparently it was more of a case of trying to work with Maya rather than against.
